The Nickname
The Chicago White Sox were a professional baseball team owned by Charles Comiskey. Charles Comiskey was a very cheap owner, so he charged the players to clean their uniforms. The players didn't like having to pay for cleaning, so they went on strike from cleaning their uniforms. The uniforms got really dirty, giving the White Sox the original nickname "Black Sox".
